What Is a Wig Revamp, and Does Yours Need One?

A revamp isn’t a wash. A wash cleans the hair. A revamp resets the whole unit.

Signs yours is due. The hair no longer holds a style past a few hours. It looks fine down, but the parting has gone flat and see through. The ends feel rough even straight after washing. You keep reaching for the same one wig because the others feel tired. It smells like product no matter what you do.

What actually happens. Deep clean to strip out old product, oil and hard water build up. A conditioning treatment to put moisture back into the fibre. Knots refreshed at the parting so it reads as scalp again. Then styled and set so it holds.

Most people wait far too long. If you wear the same unit weekly, it wants a revamp every six to eight weeks. Wear it occasionally and twice a year is fine. The mistake is waiting until it looks bad, because by then you are paying for a repair instead of maintenance.

That gap is the real reason to stay on top of it. Regular revamps keep a good unit going for two years or more. Neglect it and you are replacing a wig that never needed replacing.
